With their new album, “Nothing Feels Natural,” DC punk band Priests features the same strength, attitude, and political message combined with old and new sounds. Katie Alice Greer’s vocals are unmistakable on top of music that ranges from loud and noisy to simple and melodic.
One thing is always the same, listening to Priests makes me feel empowered. The members of the band also run the record label Sister Polygon which puts out a lot of similar releases that I would recommend checking out if you’re into Priests or any politically-driven punk.
FFO: DOWNTOWN BOYS,
There's not much online about Judy and The Jerks besides a small feature in the New Blood section of Maximum Rock N Roll and some dark videos on Youtube. There's one thing I know for sure though - this is the kind of fast, sharp, silly punk that I can't get enough of.
Over top killer riffs, "Judy" signs with chorused vocals about eating garbage, slugs, sweets, and La Croix.
Featuring members of Baghead and Big Bleach, Judy and The Jerks make their home in Hattiesburg, MS. I can't wait to hear more!
BIG BLEACH, NOTS

Following a very limited number of prior releases, DJ and electronic artist Yaeji put out another personal track, Full of It, earlier this month. The song starts slow with Yaeji’s intense but haunting vocals, then develops into a classic deep house beat with layers of synths and vocals.
Yaeji created the song for a compilation called PHYSICALLY SICK by the label ALLERGY SEASON. Released the day before Trump’s Inaguration, 100% of profits from the 42-track album go towards charities “who oppose the hateful policies of the incoming administration.”

Warm Bodies bring yet another hit with their tour tape “eat snot & rot.” I first heard about this band because of their split tape with The World. They take the distortion of psych and combine it with punk influence and hardcore attitude. Every musician in this band is clearly incredibly talented. Olivia Gibb’s vocals never cease to amaze me. She reaches frequencies that don’t even seem humanly possible. Every track on this tape is fucking sick.
FFO: VEXX, DUMSPELL,
It’s been over two years since we last heard from Pharmakon - but this March, the experimental noise artist Margaret Chardiet will be releasing her third full length album, “Contact”.
The first single, Transmission, captures Pharmakon’s iconic ominous style. An eerie, booming intro lures you into a harsh, electronic hell. On top of all this, Margaret brings a new vocal style with a touch of delay. I’m super excited to hear the rest of what Pharmakon has been working on.

Inside Edition is a minute long peek at Sneaks forthcoming album “It’s a Myth”. For this track, Eva Moolchan tossed aside the bass and drum machine that have been a prominent part of her music and went totally electronic. The beat is so sick, I wouldn’t mind if it looped a few more times at the end. Recorded by Mary Timony, of Ex Hex and Wild Flag, and Jonah Takagi, “It’s a Myth” will be released March 31st on Merge Records.
