DECEMBER 2017

A fast-paced follow-up to a December debut tape, this hardcore three-track tape lasts just over three minutes. I love the clear vocals that you don’t hear too often in hardcore - it makes the lyrics feel more important and the voice seem like more of an instrument. There’s a lot of apparent passion in these songs - they’ll have you ready to shake your ass and pound your fists in the air. I would also recommend checking out their 2016 Demo, preaching consent and power with strong riffs and intense breakdowns. An added bonus - the art for June 2017 Promo Tape is super freaky and cute, you’ve gotta check it out.

Portland based trio Fantastic Plastic establish their unapologetic attitude in just two demos they released this summer. Their carefree guitar riffs and assertive lyrics were written by Mimi Leggett, Brianna Swilling, & Phoebe Grieves. The song “Band Talk” trash talks boy bands and “Embarrassing” addresses the feeling of being a woman who is called embarrassing. Spiteful but fun, they prove that music doesn’t have to be difficult or complicated to be impactful.
