We had the honor of sitting down and chatting with the members of Oakland post-punk band The World before their show in Bloomington, Indiana. Featuring dueling saxophones, bongos, intense bass lines, razor guitar, and amazing beats, I often here their name prefaced with the words, "POSSIBLY THE BEST BAND EVER."

The World was originally imagined as a solo project with a drum machine and Britney Spears-esque headset. This project was dreamt up soon after Amber, front-woman for The World, had left her previous band, Penny Machine.

“I thought she was full of it, basically,” recalls Elyse (current drummer of The World), when thinking of the first time Amber brought up her idea of this band.

However, four months later, Amber and Elyse were working on songs with their friend Andy (guitar), and were soon joined by Alexa(bongos and saxophone) and Stanley (saxophone).

Alexa and Elyse had previously been in the band Pang together, which had inspired Amber to start playing music and to start her own band with the two of them.

The World currently has a 7 inch as well as a flexi out. While they were in Indiana they recorded new songs for an upcoming 7 inch, hopefully to be released in early 2017!
